The Abandoned Quarry by Ferdinand Rousseaux
stock 00404. Oil on artist board by Fernand Rousseaux, Belgian, 1892-1971. A superb post impressionist artist, his colors are pure and strong with evident outlining, a technique also used by P. Bosteels. Many of his landscape paintings, including this one, are of subjects in the Brussels area. He was also a sculptor; by age 70 executing over 600 works. He was in the Brussels Academy for 53 years, nine years as director, and at the end was offered the title of Baron, which he refused. A favorite painter of ours. Works in Brussels, Ghent and Antwerp. The painting is not large, 13 X 19 inches including athe new frame.
