Stock 11481 Oil on canvas, Belgian, Henri Mathy 1897-1978. Mathy started his career painting the ravages of World War 1 on the Flemish countryside. His first solo exhibition, 1929 in Paris, was of a strong, angular peasantry…a hymn to the common man. This work is not romantic…it is a cold, grey winter landscape and has the feel of Belgium (we lived there 17 years). His work is in the collection of the Museum of Mons. Listed artist. Dimensions, framed 21×23 inches
