Fernand Adriaenssens “FOREST GLADE”
Stock 7942 oil on canvas, Belgian, ca 1920. Ferdinand Adrianssens 1859-1944. The artist, whose ancestor of the same name was a colleague of Rubens, persisted in painting very well, but in the classic manner rather than the impressionst technique which had swept the country at that time. His paintings are dark but masterfully done and, unfortunately, commercially unsuccessful. About forty paintings by him, the majority of the listed works, were sold at one auction in Antwerp in 2006. We bought about half; this being our last one. Dimensions framed 15×21 inches.
